Hacker Group Plans to Kill Facebook on Nov. 5, 2011

A hacker group known as Anonymous have said they will "kill" Facebook on November 5, in retaliation to what it calls a breach of privacy. The most popular social media site in the world - Facebook has over 500 million registered users - has been selling information to government agencies and given access to information security firms to allow them to "spy on people", the hacker group alleged. In a video posted on Youtube, the secret organisation called on "willing hacktivists" to join them in their battle against Facebook and privacy. "Everything you do on Facebook stays on Facebook regardless of your 'privacy' settings, and deleting your account is impossible," it says. Anonymous said it will take down the website on November 5. "Your medium of communication you all so dearly adore will be destroyed," it said. "If you are a willing hacktivist or a guy who just wants to protect the freedom of informatio

NSA (National Security Agency) is Searching For Good Hackers

The National Security Agency has a challenge for hackers who think they’re hot stuff: Prove it by working on the “hardest problems on Earth.” Computer hacker skills are in great demand in the U.S. government to fight the cyberwars that pose a growing national security threat — and they are in short supply. For that reason an alphabet soup of federal agencies — DOD, DHS, NASA, NSA — are descending on Las Vegas this week for Defcon, an annual hacker convention where the $150 entrance fee is cash only — no registration, no credit cards, no names taken. Attendance is expected to top 10,000. The NSA is among the keen suitors. The spy agency plays offence and defence in the cyberwars. It conducts electronic eavesdropping on adversaries, and it protects U.S. computer networks that hold super-secret material — a prime target for America’s enemies. “Today it’s cyberwarriors that we’re looking for, not rocket scientists,” said Richard “Dickie” George, technical director of th

25 Years Old Guy Busted While Attempting to Hack Facebook Server

A 25 year old Brit allegedly used "considerable technical expertise" to hack into Facebook's servers. Student Glenn Steven Mangham from York is currently on trial at Westminster magistrates' court for five charges under the Computer Misuse Act including adapting, supplying or offering to supply software that ensures users can hack into Facebook's servers. Mangham was arrested by the Metropolitan Police's Central e-Crime Unit in June this year for "computer hacking offences". It is alleged that that between April 27 and May 9, Mangham hacked into a Facebook puzzle server that allows developers to test their skills, several times. Furthermore, it is also alleged he attempted to hack into a Facebook mailman server run that manages email distribution lists, as well as trying to gain access to the Facebook phabricator server, which offers tools for third-party app developers. "This is what can be described as a hacking case," lawy

HD Gaming without graphic card

This sounds almost too good to be true, doesn’t it? Many times we are stuck up with a system that just doesn’t provide enough juice to run the latest game…the result being- you either spend a pot of money (atleast Rupees 3500 or 70$) for getting the latest graphics card or you just read reviews of games like Crysis , Far Cry on gamespot and feel low, fully knowing that your system just won’t be able to support it. Take heart ! Here’s the "Saviour" with which you can beat 128-256 MB of graphics card requirements with a very modest 1GB DDR2 RAM. SAVIOUR-"3D ANALYZER" What it does is,it uses a part of your RAM as Graphics card memory. For example,if you got 1GB DDR2 RAM,then it’ll use 128MB of it as a Virtual Graphics card, and the remaining 896MB will be used as a regular RAM. Cool right….so you can Virtually emulate NVIDIA GeForce TI 4600,NVIDIA GeForce FX 4900 ULTRA,ATi Radeon 8500,ATi Radeon 9800 PRO. the list of games, you can play without your h

How to Secure Your Wireless Home Network

After the Varanasi bomb blast, Indian Mujahideen terrorists hacked a wireless network to send email for taking the responsibility of this act. Most of the wireless networks are unsecured in INDIA. It is recommended Unsecured networks are an open invitation to hackers seeking access to vulnerable computers.     Use these simple ways in which you can secure your wireless network. Change The Admin Password The default password for most wireless kits is ADMIN or something else set by manufacturers. If you haven't changed this password then change it as soon as you can. It is surprising the amount of wireless networks that are hacked into or accessed by a third party because the ADMIN password is still ADMIN. All manufacturers manuals can be downloaded from the Internet with their admin password easily. Enable MAC Address filtering Each wireless device has a unique identifier called the physical address or MAC address. Access points and routers keep track of the MA

10 Common reasons for your system to crash

Fatal error : the system has become unstable or is busy," it says. "Enter to return to Windows or press Control-Alt-Delete to restart your computer. If you do this you will lose any unsaved information in all open applications." You have just been struck by the Blue Screen of Death. Anyone who uses Mcft Windows will be familiar with this. What can you do? More importantly, how can you prevent it happening? 1 Hardware conflict The number one reason why Windows crashes is hardware conflict. Each hardware device communicates to other devices through an interrupt request channel (IRQ). These are supposed to be unique for each device. For example, a printer usually connects internally on IRQ 7. The keyboard usually uses IRQ 1 and the floppy disk drive IRQ 6. Each device will try to hog a single IRQ for itself. If there are a lot of devices, or if they are not installed properly, two of them may end up sharing the same IRQ number. When the user tries to us

Facebook's founder Mark Zukerberg's sister to start her own Social Media firm

NEW YORK: Facebook's director of marketing Randi  Zuckerberg, sister of the social network's billionaire founder Mark Zuckerberg, is leaving her brother's company to start her own social media consulting firm. Randi, who has been with Facebook for the last six years, said she feels it is the "perfect time" to move outside of Facebook to build a company focused on the "exciting trends underway in the media industry." "I have decided my time at Facebook is coming to a close. When I think about the projects I am most proud of during my six years at the company, they all have one thing in common -- they revolve around the intersection of traditional media and social technology," she said. Facebook confirmed the departure and in a statement said, "We can confirm Randi has decided to leave Facebook to start her own company. We are all grateful for her important service." However, there was no direct comment from her brother. Randi

International Monetary Fund suffers a cyber hack attack

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reportedly become the target of a concerted hack attack. The resulting breach was severe enough for the economic development agency to temporarily suspend network connections with the World Bank, as a precaution. The link was quickly restored. According to internal emails leaked to Bloomberg the precautionary disconnection followed the detection of “suspicious file transfers”. “[A] subsequent investigation established that a Fund desktop computer had been compromised and used to access some Fund systems. At this point, we have no reason to believe that any personal information was sought for fraud purposes.” The IMF reported told staff on or around 8 June that it planned to replace RSA SecurID tokens used for remote authentication. RSA last week publicly offered to replace two factor authentication token after defence contractor Lockheed Martin said it had come under attack from hackers using information gleaned from an earlier high-prof

Facebook to start paying Bug finders

Facebook has decided it’s a good idea to offer up a $500 bounty for exploits reported to the Facebook security team. They are claiming they will pay out larger amounts for ‘truly significant’ bugs, but they aren’t qualifying that claim with any guidelines or amounts. Facebook is going to pay hackers to find problems with its website — just so long as they report them to Facebook’s security team first. The company is following Google and Mozilla in launching a Web “Bug Bounty” program. For security related bugs — cross site scripting flaws, for example — the company will pay a base rate of $500. If they’re truly significant flaws Facebook will pay more, though company executives won’t say how much. “In the past we’ve focused on name recognition by putting their name up on our page, sending schwag out and using this an avenue for interviews and the recruiting process,” said Alex Rice, Facebook’s product security lead. “We’re extending that now to start paying out monetary reward

Hackers Unlock Car Doors Via SMS

Don Bailey and Mathew Solnik, Two hackers have found a way to unlock cars that use remote control and telemetry systems like BMW Assist, GM OnStar, Ford Sync, and Hyundai Blue Link. These systems communicate with the automaker’s remote servers via standard standard mobile networks like GSM and CDMA — and with a clever bit of reverse engineering, the hackers were able to pose as these servers and communicate directly with a car’s on-board computer via “war texting” — a riff on “war driving,” the act of finding open wireless networks. Don Bailey and Mathew Solnik, both employees of iSEC Partners, will deliver their findings at next week’s Black Hat USA conference in Las Vegas in a briefing entitled “War Texting: Identifying and Interacting with Devices on the Telephone Network.” The exact details of the attack won’t be disclosed until the affected manufacturers have had a chance to fix their systems, and the hackers are not expected to reveal at the conference which on-board systems
