Evolution of Data Storage

Do you remember that time when you had to go through different steps to store your data in a device. Yes, Compact Discs enabled us to save our data by Burning the discs through a software. There was a time when saving your data for future was something to worry about. The main sources on which we were dependent were mainly- CD's/DVD's. Which was somewhat a relief. "Relief" because that was an end of Floppy Era which generally came up with space capacity of less than 500 KBs. Once again There was a Revolution in CDs as Blu Ray Disc were introduced which had higher Storage Capacity of more than 25 GB Space but it didn't enjoyed much of the attention as USB Flash Drives (Commonly known as Pen-Drives) were unveiled. What made them popular was that they were extremely portable, easy to use unlike CDs/DVD's Floppy Drives.
The major Reason for the Downfall of Other devices was that they needed maintenance and it became unbearable to work with these devices.

The Evolution of Data storage made these beautiful inventions turn into E-waste.

Now an there's a new (Still new to many) way to Save/Back-up your data that is Cloud Storage.
Cloud Storage is a network through which you can access you files anytime/anywhere you want. Its safe secure and it gives you enough space for your files. The most important thing is : Its FREE!

It is a Cloud Storage service provided by Microsoft corp. Which gives you the space of 7 GB..Additional storage is available for purchase if you are looking for more Space. The service files up to 300 MB can be uploaded via drag and drop into the web browser or up to 2 GB via the SkyDrive desktop application for Windows and Mac OS X. Now they've made Cloud storage available to people. If you use this service which service do you like the most? Do tell us & if you want more sites that offer services you can Leave your email address' in the comments. Enjoy Cloud Computing!

1 Response to Evolution of Data Storage

  1. The more advanced data storage systems today have definitely evolved from the more manual storage cabinets of yesteryears. Back then, people used to rely on physical storages to keep their data safe from being corrupted or worse data theft. But this has proven to be disadvantageous to some degree, as physical storages are not secured from disasters and data loss. But with the help of these data management programs, people can now have a virtual storage on the internet that will be immensely helpful in protecting and managing large amounts of data. What’s more, you can use these systems to back up the back up of your important documents, making data loss virtually impossible.
